Details: Regular clear jel is a versatile powder that can be used in the place of cornstarch. Regular Clear Jel requires heat for it to activate. This is used as a thickening agent. It is used in making jams, jellies, and other baked goods. You do not want to be without this wonderful product around canning time. This is a delicious addition to your food storage staples.
Directions: Requires heating before the thickening process begins. There is a gradual increase in thickness during the heating. Maximum thickness is reached upon cooling. Recommended for home canning by the USDA. Prepare Clear Jel using same directions indicated for cornstarch thickened fillings. Substitute same measure of clear jel (or 10% less) for cornstarch required in recipes. Clear Jel is not considered freezer stable. Resists “weeping” upon cooling.
